What's new in Produce & Publish 2.0?
A completely refactored code-base
An almost complete new code-base and a new internal conversion architecture allows us to be more flexible with customer wishes - especially wishes related to section numbering, document structure and overall layout due to the consequent usage of new CSS features.
Introspectors for images, links, anchors and document structure
A variety of inspectors allow you to find out problems with your documents and assets that may show up during the conversion. The document structure inspector e.g. checks the headings of your content for consistency. The image inspectors show all images with all conversion related parameters. A built-in image editor allows you to manipulate images directly inside the Authoring Environment (e.g. crop, scale operations).
A new TinyMCE editor plugin for making authoring with cross-references much easier
Managing cross-references in Produce & Publish 2.0 is much easier now. Produce & Publish will insert automatically internal ids for headings, links, images and tables in order to make these content items referenceable. A new editor plugin allows you to easily select items for cross-referencing.
Single-source publication for PDF, Web, S5 (browser presentation mode) and e-books (EPUB format)
Produce & Publish 2.0 brings the slogan Single-Source Multi-Channel Publishing to reality. Although the primary focus of Produce & Publish is still the production of high-quality PDF documents we can now generate e-books (in EPUB format - among other e-book formats), S5 (browser presentation mode) and HTML versions with a single mouse-click. It can not be easier.
Flexible aggregation of content
A new dedicated content-type allows you to aggreate content pieces from other authoring projects in order re-use existing content.
CMYK support for images
CMYK images are supported throughout the complete conversion process (besides other image colorspaces). This makes Produce & Publish the perfect solution for managing print productions.
HTML publishing
Content management within Produce & Publish can easily converted into a HTML pages - either into a single aggregated HTML page or into dedicated HTML pages (e.g. one page for book chapter). Produce & Publish will generate automatically a nice looking navigation with links to chapters, sections etc.
Full support for external Calibre converter
Produce & Publish now integrates nicely with the widely-used Calibre e-book tool. Produce & Publish can either call the Calibre converter with arbitrary conversion parameters or it can export the content stored within Produce & Publish in order to work on the e-book production outside Produce & Publish.
PDF generation: automatic table and image listings
The new internal PDF conversion can automatically generate listings for images and tables in addition to the table of contents with direct links to the related tables and images including page number information.
PDF-per content project or per-chapter or both
Similar to the new HTML features Produce & Publish can generate a single PDF document from all the content or create chapter-wise PDF documents.
(optional) Auto-archiving of published content
As an optional feature Produce & Publish supports a new archiving functionality that would create and maintain an archive of published content. This feature is useful when you have the need to preserve old revisions of your published content.
Flexible export and import of content and assets
The generated content (PDF, HTML, S5, EPUB) can be downloaded as a zip archive for further usage outside Produce & Publish.Import of office documents
A new experimental feature supports the import of Microsoft office documents (DOC, DOCX) and Open-Office documents (ODT) into Produce & Publish. The import will preserve the document structure, images and most of the formatting. The quality of the import depends widely on the quality of the input document.
